Passed away on November 21, 2013 in Mesa, AZ at the age of 88. Thomas was born on January 30th, 1925 in Denim, Massachusetts. Tom was the 2nd son to Lebanese immigrants Abraham & Jeanette Hashem. At the age of 18 he volunteered for the United States Army to help defend his country during WW II. After basic training he was assigned to the "Army Air Corps" and was trained as a Tail-Gunner, flying on the B-24 Liberator. He was sent overseas to the Pacific to join the fight against the Japanese. He flew out of several bases on islands throughout the South Pacific. At the end of the war he returned to the States and was given an honorable dis
charge. By then, his family had moved to Buffalo, NY. There he met and married Teckla Attea and soon had a family of 6 children. In 1957, Thomas moved his entire family out west from Buffalo to Arizona. He began his career in Arizona at Money Oldsmobile then went on to a long and successful career in Real Estate. In Arizona, Tom was also a member of the "Scottsdale Mounted Sheriff Posse". Tom was a proud member of the Greatest Generation; living through the Great Depression, fighting in World War II, becoming a successful businessman and fathering a large and loving family. He will be remembered as a kind and generous father & grandfather. Tom is survived by his children; Thomas Hashem Jr. and wife Nancy, Gerald Hashem, Frederick Hashem, Craig Hashem and Madonna Hashem and her husband Sean Williams; his grandchildren Emily Reyna and husband Andy, Jarrod Hashem and wife Elissa, Michelle Celaya and husband Victor, Jenna DiGuiseppe, Christopher Williams; his great grandkids Andy, Arianna, Ava, Aaliyah, Bella, Liliana and Juliette, and his brother John Hashem. A public viewing and Rosary service will be held on Tuesday Dec 3, 2013 from 5-8PM at Messenger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85251. The public funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Dec 4, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 11300 N. 64th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85254.
