On Friday, July 18, 2014 our beloved Husband, Father, Poppa, and Friend, William "Bill" Benjamin Dotter began his everlasting journey towards heaven. Bill began his life on June 26, 1941 in Bronx, New York; he was the son of William and Annette Dotter. Bill graduated from Precious Blood Catholic High School in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1960. He enlisted in the US Air Force in August 1960 and on March 13, 1961 Bill married Cherie Innis in Raleigh, North Carolina. Bill served in the Air Force for 25 years and retired as a MSGT in February 1984. During his military career, he was stationed in several states as well as tours in Japan and Germany. He entered as a Radiologic Technician then cross trained into Nuclear Medicine and eventually retired as a Health Physicist. During his time in service Bill was awarded Several Medals to include: AF Good Conduct Medal with 1 Silver OLC & 1 Bronze OLC, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Ribbon with 4 OLC, National Defense Service Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award with 2 OLC, and the AF Commendation Medal with OLC. When he retired from the Air Force, he made his residence in Chandler, Arizona and started his "second career" with the State of Arizona at the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency as a Health Physicist. Bill retired from the ARRA in July of 2003. He was devoted to his church, St. Andrew the Apostle and the Knights of Columbus where he held numerous offices in the 3rd and 4th Degree. Throughout his life, his extended family grew because of his kindness, generosity, and unconditional love of people. He always opened his heart and his home and was always "on call" for anyone. Besides family and friends; his interest included, cooking, baking, football, NASCAR and of course his love of gadgets of all kinds. Bill loved all kinds of music especially Bluegrass and Big Band. Post retirement he became a professional "Cruiser", which fed his passion for meeting and enjoying people. Bill is survived by his wife, Cherie; his daughters, Kim and Barb; four grandchildren, Mandi (Doug), Andy, Cherie and Leeza (Harry); six great grandchildren, Lucas, Dyron, Morgan, Zechariah, MacKenzie and Darius; his Aunt, Ruth Maslak and numerous cousins. Bill was preceded by his father, William (1964); his mother, Annette (1968) and his brother, Ronald (1946). Thank you to the friends and family who kept Bill in their hearts though out his life. Thank you to Dr. Carroll and the Renaissance Medical Group for their outstanding care and support for our family. Thank you to the staff at Chandler Regional Hospital for the personal care we received during our many visits. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for all of your moral and spiritual support. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary, 1562 E. Baseline Rd. in Mesa, AZ. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3450 W. Ray Rd. in Chandler, AZ.
