Weckerly, William Martin
81, of Scottsdale, AZ, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Sunday, May 27, in Chandler. He was a 27-year veteran of the US Marine Corps (1st Lieutenant Mustang Ret.) Bill also worked for the Tempe Police Department and at Phoenix Indian High School. He was a member of the Scottsdale Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Club, and past president of the Mesa Shriners and Chapter DAD/ DeMolay's. During his years in the Marine Corps, he served in both Korea and Vietnam, and received many letters and medals of commendation, including the Purple Heart, for his service, bravery, and heroism. Survivors include his companion and wife of 20 years, Marilyn; a daughter, Kathleen Angel of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Martin of Moncks Corner, SC and Brian of Chandler, AZ; 3 step-children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One sister, Delores Hoelzen of Tucson, AZ, also survives. Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, Carl and Alice Weckerly; brother, Carl Weckerly; sister, Ruth Reibold; and a grandson. Services are planned for 10:00 am Thurs., May 30 (TODAY), at Bueler Chandler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr., Chandler, AZ. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024.
