Ernest Mason died of cancer on September 7, 2013 in Sacramento, CA at age 71, with family by his side. He is now at peace with his beloved wife of 50 years, Tae Nam Mason, whom he had mourned every day since her death in May 2012.

Ernest was preceded by his parents Willie and Rebecca Mason and brother Albert.
He is survived by son Lenny (Jenny) Mason, grandchildren Elizabeth and Rebecca, brothers William, Sylvester, Joe and Cornelius and sisters Rose and Juanita.
Born in Selma AL, Ernest joined the U.S. Air Force straight out of high school and during the next 28 years served throughout the world, including tours in Korea, Okinawa, Philippines and Sardinia. After serving in the Air Force, he worked for and retired from civil service with the State of California. Ernest was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered for his zest for life, love of learning and caring for his lawn, but mostly, his commitment to his family and friends. To the end he lived by his principle "never surrender your day to anything or anyone". He will always be missed.
The family would like to thank the UC Davis Medical Center Oncology Department who treated him with the best of care and respect during his long fight with cancer. Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 14, at the Ullrey Memorial Chapel 817 Almond St. Yuba City, CA 95991. Inurnment will be private.
