John (Jack) Alphonse Wieber, 81, of Marysville, CA, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 22, 2014. He was born on August 20, 1932 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Jack served in the United States Navy on the USS Sicily during the Korean War.
Jack was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 55 years. He was a pressman by trade and worked for the Appeal-Democrat for ten years prior to opening his own print shop, Rose Printing. After several years, he purchased Valley Printing to become Valley Rose Printing, which he operated for nearly 40 years. Jack loved Christmas and for five years he had a seasonal retail store, The Christmas Store, in Marysville, Yuba City, Chico, and Sacramento. He and his son also owned and operated the Sports Tavern bar in Marysville.
Jack's true love was looking for, buying and selling "treasures." You could find him at garage sales and auctions every week. He made many trips throughout the United States looking for and purchasing antiques. Jack also enjoyed sharing his great buys with his friends over coffee.
Survivors include, Nancy Wieber, his son Michael Wieber (Kena) of Marysville, his daughter Cindy Sutfin (Allen) of Yuba City, his daughter Kathy Hormel (Phil) of Scotts Valley, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:00 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. A private burial will be held at the VA cemetery in Dixon. Donations can be made to Fremont- Rideout Hospice.
