Long time area resident, Max Richmond Johnson, passed away July 7, 2014. Born in Rupert, Idaho on October 16, 1918, to Seymour Richmond Johnson and Harriet Bingham Johnson, Max spent his early years learning the livestock business from his father. After the stock market crash of 1929, the family relocated to Marysville, California where they were involved in the meat packing business and later started the Johnson Ranch. Max attended Marysville High School, and Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.

On April 3, 1941, Max married Ruth Davis in Wichita, Kansas and they settled in Marysville. Max is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruth Johnson, three daughters, Francie Lindsey (Ray) of Riverbank, California, Ruthanne Leister (Ken) of Sandy, Utah, Holly Hopkins (Kevin) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one son, Mike Johnson (Barbi) of Marysville, 14 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

Max was a member of the Marysville Elks Club, the California Cattlemen's Association, and the Rice Growers Association. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.

For those who would like to extend their condolences to the family, a viewing will be held at 1:00 PM with funeral services following at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center, 1470 Butte House Road, Yuba City, California.
