Beverly Hendricks Skiles

Beverly Hendricks Skiles passed away on March 10, 2013 in Apache Junction, Arizona. She was born on September 2, 1944, the daughter of Phyllis A Hendricks and Harold E Hendricks in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She lived her younger years in Iowa until moving to Watertown, SD where she graduated from Watertown High School in 1962.

Beverly received a teaching degree from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD. She earned a BA from Sioux Falls College and a Masters plus as Magna Cum Laude from Augustana in Sioux Falls.

She taught grade school in Sissiton, SD for 1 year then at Laura Wilder in Sioux Falls until she retired in 2002. Her teaching career was filled with many accolades from her peers, administrators, as well as her students.

She was a collector and lover of antiques throughout her life, and upon retirement she worked part time in the antique business at Dakota Plains antique mall in Sioux Falls.

In recent years she and her husband Terry have been spending their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Survivors are her husband of 36 years Terry Skiles of Sioux Falls, her mother Phyllis Hendricks of Sioux Falls, her sister Patricia Clement of Henniker, NH, her brother Jim Hendricks of Naples, FL and his daughter Kristen Hendricks Ramano of Danielson, CT, niece Cathy Clement Dias of Henniker, NH, nephews James Clement and 3 children of Silver Spring, MD and Joe Clement of San Francisco, CA, niece Susan Browning of Apache Junction, AZ and nephew Struie Nelson of Burlington, VT. She is also survived by numerous cousins from both her mom and dad's families.

Her favorite times were spent with all of Terry's family members and her 2 little dogs.

A memorial service will be held at St Nicholas Church in Tea, SD Sat., May 18 at Noon followed by a luncheon reception at the Tea event center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the second chance animal rescue in Sioux Falls.
