Glorian Schneider Obituary
Glorian Schneider

Glorian Schneider, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, died May 3, 2014.

Glorian Eleanore Schneider was born on July 24, 1931 to William and Mayme Lobnitz. She was the family's only girl and the youngest child. Her family including brothers Roger, Woodrow, Marshall, and Gordon, have all passed on before her. Glorian and her husband Frank both grew up in Renville, Minnesota. The two were grade school classmates, high school sweethearts and attended the University of Minnesota together.

Glorian and Frank were married on October 10, 1952 and had six children, Connie, Gregory, Paul, Brad, Ingrid, and Kristin, who died as an infant. They moved around the mid-west until settling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1967. Raising her children was her highest calling and she was never happier than when the family was together. She loved to cook and to sing and play the piano at family gatherings. She is survived by her children; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Leif, Angela, Laura, Gretchen, Neil, Annika and Evin; as well as two great-grandchildren, Briella and Levi.

Glorian had an active career as well as being a full time Mother. She was a licensed realtor, sold automobiles for Kindler Pontiac and Cadillac, and eventually, after returning to school in her fifties and receiving her master's degree, she became a drug and alcohol counselor.

Glorian was a strong and caring woman who would look you straight in the eye and say what was on her mind. She was outgoing, had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed interacting with all kinds of people. Active in the community, she attended First Lutheran Church, was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union, and the National Organization of Women. The Sioux Falls Community Playhouse benefited from her theatrical bent. She loved animals and was an active supporter of her local animal shelter.

Memorials may be directed to Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

Memorial services will be held 10:30am August 2, 2014, at the Renville Health Services Campus, Renville, MN. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family thanks you for your support.
