Kenneth "Bud" Lewin, 91, of Hartford, passed away at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Funeral mass will begin at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 2 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow at the St. Ann's Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Tuesday with a 7:30 pm rosary and prayer service.
Kenneth Lewin was born on November 19, 1922 to Wanda (Adams) and Henry Lewin Jr. in Hartford, SD. He grew up in the Humboldt area and in 1945 he entered the US Army and served in Japan. On Feburary 12, 1947 he married Ardell Rothans and they made their home near Humboldt where Bud farmed.
Kenneth was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church as well as the Humboldt Legion Post. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and working.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ardell of Hartford; his three daughters, Madonna (Gary) Sevatson of Sioux Falls, Leann (Ky) Helseth of Hartford, and Charlene (Dale) McAvoy of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Chad Sevatson, Sean (Stefany) McAvoy, Shannon (Chad) Hassebroek, and Michelle McAvoy; two bonus-grandsons, Kirk Helseth and Aaron (Lisa) Helseth; one great-grandchild, Austin Hasebroek, and one of the way; four bonus great-grandchildren, Samatha, Blair, Alicia, and Sydney Helseth; his brother, Roger Lewin of Sioux Falls; and his sister, Bonnie Viet of Hartford.
