Lloyd Erickson

Lloyd Erickson went to be with Jesus on September 30, 2013.

He was born on February 26, 1940 to Ernest and Agnes Erickson, in Madison, South Dakota. He attended a number of different schools and graduated from high school in Flandreau, SD in 1958. On May 16, 1959, Lloyd married Jacqueline Gerry.

As a member of the Army National Guard, he was called to active duty in the US Army in 1958 and served in Oklahoma. He was discharged in Aug 1962. Lloyd joined the Sioux Falls Fire Department in 1963, and proudly served for 30 years, retiring in 1993 as a Chauffer, fire truck driver. His job as a fire truck driver was a source of great pride to Lloyd and great delight to his many grandchildren.

Lloyd was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls for more than 45 years. He had a towering faith that was evident in every aspect of his life and relationships.

In 1987 Lloyd married Patricia Darger. Together they enjoyed the fruits of Lloyd's woodworking, their faith, families and traveling North America in their RV.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Pat, three children, Tami (Danny) Prostrollo, Michael (Marijo) Erickson, Lori Erickson, seven step-children, Nancy DeYoung, Jerry Darger, Dana (Julie) Darger, Brad (Becky) Darger, Theresa (Bill) Darger, Kris (Mark) Hotchkiss, and Stacey (Tim) Donovan, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews, seven sisters and two brothers.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his first wife Jackie, a daughter, Paige, a brother, Melvin, and a sister, Arlene.

Funeral Services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, October 5, 2013, at First Lutheran Church, with interment at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation begins at noon, Friday, with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 Friday evening at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue.
