Roxi Rollinger, 60, of Sioux Falls, died peacefully at her home with her loving family & friends at her side on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 following a long & courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. While her illness will not define her, she will be remembered in part for the courageous battle she fought up until the very end.
Roxann R. Rollinger was born January 28, 1954 in Mitchell, SD to Helmuth & Lorraine (Baney) Hartman. Growing up her family lived in Mitchell, SD, Billings, MT, and then Sioux Falls. She attended Washington High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Gene Rollinger, on May 26, 1973 in Sioux Falls. Together they started Gene Rollinger Construction, Inc. in 1985 where she worked from home as Vice-President & Secretary until her health declined to the point where she could no longer work.
Roxi enjoyed working from home and relished the opportunity to care for her family and take care of the home. She especially enjoyed caring for her home, taking care of the lawn, caring for her dog (Jersey), cross-stitching, being at the lake, & spending time with her family and friends. She cherished her family and the opportunity to spend time with them.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gene Rollinger, of Sioux Falls, SD; two sons, Josh (Dawn) Rollinger of Billings, MT and Telly (Brooke) Rollinger of Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Abby (Jesse) McAmis of Williston, ND; 5 grandchildren; four sisters, Lexie (Terry) Walker of Casa Grande, AZ, Shirlee (Dan) Moran and Karen (Clark) Miller, both of Sioux Falls, SD and Marlene (Larry) Kuhnert of Brandon, SD; and one brother, Randy (Trudy) Hartman of Baltic, SD. Roxi was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Kathy Gulbrandson and Terri Hartman Olson and her beloved dog, Cokie.
Funeral services will begin 1:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2014 at First United Methodist Church. Private interment will take place at Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation with the family present will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be designated to: First United Methodist Church - Sioux Falls.
