Waneta Jones, age 71 of Harrisburg, South Dakota, passed away of natural causes Monday, January 28, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery in Harrisburg.
Waneta Chamberlain was born October 31, 1941 in Columbia, New Hampshire. At early age, family moved to Lead, South Dakota. She graduated from Lead High School and attended Black Hills State University College of Business along with modeling for Donaldson's in Rapid City. She shared her passion with the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher in Rapid City.
Waneta married Edwin N. Jones on May 17, 1963 at Canyon Lake Methodist Church in Rapid City. Briefly lived in Rapid City, South Dakota and moved to Mount Morris, Michigan. Edwin worked at General Motors and Waneta worked at MacKenzie, Knuth, & Klein Architects, Inc. as Executive Secretary. Later, becoming a stay at home of mom raising four children. She volunteered her time at the United Methodist Church in Mount Morris.
Waneta loved to snowmobile, fish, make crafts, decorate cakes, bake and cook. She was a wonderful mother and wife, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband Edwin; their children Brenda (Jeff) Wiltse, Baltic, SD, Lisa Jones, Harrisburg, SD, Jon Jones, TX, Julie (Scott) Pierson; three grandchildren Alan Wiltse, Amanda Wiltse, and Anna Wiltse; Aunt Anna (John) Jarry; Aunt Virginia Greer; two sisters Wanda and Moe; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Patrick Chamberlain.
