Family-Placed Death Notice
MASSENGALE, Anne B. ANNE B. MASSENGALE Anne B. Massengale, of Decatur, died November 9 at Chester River Memorial Hospital in Chestertown, Maryland, surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old. Anne was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 23, 1916 to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Brodnax. She graduated from Atlanta Girls High in 1936. She attended The Bradenton School of Art and the University of Georgia (Marietta Division). She continued her study of Art History in the evenings at Emory University. Anne married James W. Groover in Chattanooga, TN on May 7, 1939. Anne had a career in photography and antiques; she worked at Davison's Corner Shop in Atlanta. A member of the Acworth Garden Club, the Baton Rouge Ikebana Society and volunteer at the High Museum of Art, Anne had a great appreciation for the fine and floral arts. Anne is preceded in death by her husbands Mr. James W. Groover, Major Thomas J. Donan and Mr. Gordan B. Massengale, as well as her son Mr. James W. Groover, Jr. and siblings Mrs. Sara B. Nesbit, Mrs. Nell Brodnax and Mr. Thomas. H. Brodnax, Jr. Anne is survived by her daughter, Sue G. Hansen and her husband Stuart. She had three grandchildren Elizabeth H. Gross, Kristen H. Corona and Stuart R. Hansen, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Westview Chapel in Atlanta on Saturday, November 17 at 2pm.
