PRINCE, Bessie Mae Bessie Mae Hutchinson Prince was born January 11, 1929 to Eugene and Fannie Macklin Hutchinson in Richmond, Virginia. She was the first of their seven children, followed by Alice, William, Warner, Clifford Alvin, and Gloria. Bessie attended Virginia Union University and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts. She also earned her Masters in Social Work from Atlanta University and New York University. Bessie and her husband Oliver G. Prince, Jr. raised three children together: Oliver G. Prince, Jr., Cheryl Patrice Prince, and the late Eric Paul Prince. Bessie was an active and dedicated member of church, community, and social groups in Atlanta. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Big Bethel AME Church, 220 Auburn Ave, NE, Atlanta. Rev. John Foster, pastor. Her body will lie instate at 10 AM. Entombment Westview Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:30 AM on day of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver G. Prince, Sr. and her youngest son, Eric Paul Prince. Bessie is survived by her children, Oliver Jr. and Cheryl; grandchildren, Sara (Stefan), and Geoffrey; great-grandson, Ethan; siblings, Alice Copes, Warner Hutchinson, and Gloria Ross; and a host of family and dear friends. Today, public viewing will be from 9 AM - 9 PM with a Visitation from 5:30 - 7 PM. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
