Family-Placed Death Notice

FARMER, Carolyn Bond Rouse CAROLYN BOND ROUSE FARMER Carolyn Bond Rouse Farmer, 85, of Dunwoody, GA, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 of gallbladder cancer. She was born on August 22, 1928 in Nashville, TN, but spent most of her life in the Atlanta area. She was a member of the Atlanta Youth Orchestra and graduated from Girls' High. While attending the University of Georgia, she played cornet in the Georgia Red Coat Marching Band and met her first husband, H. Eugene Rouse of Jesup, GA. They had two daughters and lived in Eastman, GA, and Jacksonville, FL. After returning to Atlanta, she was a single parent who used her resourceful and fiercely independent nature to provide security for her girls, to whom she was totally devoted. Carolyn worked as the office manager and accountant for the Atlanta Army-Navy Wholesale Company for over 30 years. After retiring, she pursued her interests in gardening, reading, playing the piano and organ, and extensively researching her family genealogy. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Rowena Stovall Storey, and her husband of 37 years, C. W. (Bill) Farmer. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Rouse (Freddy) Lockman, Lithia Springs, GA and Tracey Rouse (Ron) Rice, Norcross, GA; Step-daughter, Roxanne Farmer (Galen) Gaunt, Lawrenceville, GA; Step-son, Stephen Farmer, Wilmington, NC; Grandchildren, Kelley (Matt) Gauger, Durham, NC, David (Kelly) Lockman, Thomasville, GA and Michael Rice, Norcross, GA. She also had 3 great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember Carolyn as a beautiful, talented, and intelligent woman with a quick sense of humor and a strong will. She was sharp as a tack with an uncanny memory, and she valued independence, patriotism, frugality, common sense, and above all, love and devotion to her family. A Gathering of Remembrance is being held on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 1-5pm at the home of the Rice family in Peachtree Corners. A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
