Family-Placed Death Notice
TAYLOR, Carolyn Carolyn Williams Taylor died peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Cartersville, Georgia. She was born 82 years ago to Amy Turner Williams and Walter A. ("Cherry") Williams in Warms Springs, Georgia. She moved to Cartersville with her parents and began attending Cartersville city schools in the third grade. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1953 and worked as an elementary school teacher. In June of 1954, she married Chester J. Taylor at the Sam Jones United Methodist Church in Cartersville. Following their marriage, the Taylors relocated to Columbia, South Carolina where they lived and reared their four children. The Taylors returned to Georgia and Cartersville in 1976. After that time Carolyn devoted her efforts to her husband, her children, her family, to finding and restoring antiques, to beachcombing in South Carolina and to traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Carolyn and Chester were active members of Sam Jones. Their two sons, Chester J. Taylor, Jr. and Crawford H. Taylor followed their mother by attending and graduating from Cartersville High School. Her daughter, Carolyn, followed her mother by marrying in Sam Jones in 1988. Carolyn's beloved husband, Chester J. Taylor, Sr. died in 1998. She is survived by an immediate family that includes: her sister Amy Williams Olson, her nieces Amy O. Johnson and Audrey O. Roberts, and her children and their families, Carolyn T. and John Koerner of Middleburg, Florida, Cherie O. Taylor, of Houston, Texas, and Chester J. and Melanie Taylor and Crawford H. and Sandra Taylor of Cartersville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Taylor A. and Katherine C. Koerner of Middleburg, Florida and Alexandra E. Taylor, Chester J. Taylor, III and Crawford W. Taylor of Cartersville, Georgia. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Carolyn W. Taylor will be held at Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 11 at 2:00, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Cartersville-Bartow Community Church Shop. Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia.
