Family-Placed Death Notice
BALDWIN, Charles H. CHARLES H. BALDWIN Charles H. Baldwin passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at the age of 87. Born to Myrtle Bertha Hanke and Harry Cuyler Baldwin in Oak Park, IL on April 16, 1926. Chuck graduated from Columbia High School in Short Hills, N.J. He joined the U. S. Navy during WWII and served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Wichita and USS Bobolink. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and American Theater Ribbon for his service. He was Honorably Discharged on July 7, 1946. After leaving the service he attended and graduated from Wabash College, Crawfordsville, IN in1950 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. Chuck was a police officer and volunteer firefighter in Short Hills, NJ. He began his advertising career with McCann-Erickson in N.Y. He married Nancy Hale in 1957 and they moved to Atlanta, GA to work for Outdoor Advertising Sales in 1963, and later joined J. Walter Thompson where he had a long career as account executive on the U. S. Marine Corps Account and later the Ford account until he retired in November 1994 as Vice President. He was an active volunteer with Murphey-Candler Little League Baseball, serving on the board of directors and as a coach for a number of years. He also designed the "quivering" little baseball figure that was the MCLL logo for many years. He was also an avid volunteer and supporter of the Atlanta Colts Football program. A charter member of Georgetown Recreation Club, Chuck served as president, and held several other board positions. He was a member of ALTA for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Baldwin Elliott of Dunwoody, GA, Son, Douglas C. Baldwin and daughter in law, Jan J. Baldwin of Dunwoody, Georgia and son Peter W. Baldwin and daughter in law Sloan K. Baldwin of Huntsville, AL. Also, Grand-daughter Dana L. Brock her husband Brett Brock and great-grandson Landon Brock of Marietta, GA. Grandson's Cuyler J. Baldwin, Austin T. Baldwin, Parker W. Baldwin and Spencer L. Baldwin. Cousin Suzy Boltz of Charlotte, N. C. and many other cousins and extended family. . A private military service for the family will be held in Canton, GA on Friday, July 26, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home 5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd Norcross, GA 30092.
