Edward LAD Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

LAD, Edward Edward John "Ed" Lad, born July 5, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Francis Lad and Rose Augustine Lad, has joined his wife Charlotte in the hands of the Lord. He is survived by his sister Valerie Begos (92), his children Lawrence (Diane Day), Carol (Sandy Turner), Paul (Eileen) and Scott (Brenda). With Charlotte, his wife of 57 years, they have 8 grandchildren. Ed attended Loyola University in Chicago. He was a Korean War veteran serving as a communications officer and earned the rank of Sergeant. He worked for Western Electric for 37 years in both Chicago and Atlanta as an Equipment Engineer. In his retirement years, he and Charlotte were dedicated Make a Wish Foundation volunteers. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers for 25 years. Together they travelled to 4 continents. They loved cruises, road trips, and visits to National Parks. With their young family, they were avid campers. Among their favorite vacations were trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Jekyll Island, GA. Ed was a great support to Charlotte's award-winning china painting. In his own right, he was a dedicated and accomplished woodcarver. He counted the graduation from college of his four children as his major accomplishment in life. His children and their spouses all contributed to his care over the last 4 years. Ed's last years were lived at Chambrel in Roswell with the assistance of many dedicated staff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Road, in Cumming. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
