Family-Placed Death Notice

HUGHES, Gary GARY DWAYNE HUGHES Gary Dwayne Hughes, 52, died Saturday, Feb. 2 at home in Canton, surrounded by his loving sisters, nieces and nephews. Born Oct. 22, 1960, in Canton, he was the son of the late Jack Herbert and Bobbie Sue Hughes, and brother of the late Terry A. Hughes. Survivors include sisters Connie S. Hughes of Marietta and Kathy H. Magwood of Canton, and a large extended family. He studied theater arts at LaGrange College and graphic arts at University of Georgia. He worked in ad sales, creative and client services for Atlanta Journal-Constitution. And, by 2009, he was promoted to Director of Ad Operations with a staff of 140 people. He was a talented artist, loved to cook and entertain, and collected fine writing pens and scaled replica cars. He is deeply missed by family and friends. Funeral is Tuesday, Feb. 5, 11 a.m., Fields Chapel United Methodist Church, 1331 Fields Chapel Rd., Canton, 770-479-6030.
