Family-Placed Death Notice

George Dekle Busbee of Duluth, GA, died on July 16, 2004. He was 76 years of age. He served as governor of the State of Georgia from 1975 to 1983. He is survived by his wife Mary Beth Busbee, four children, George D. Busbee, Jr. of Albany and daughter-in-law Tammy Busbee; Beth Kindt of Champaign, Il and son-in-law John Kindt; Jan Curtis of Atlanta and son-in-law Carlton Curtis, and Jeff Busbee of Suwanee and daughter-in-law Kelly Busbee, and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Wesley Turton of Cordele and Mrs. Madison Coley of Vienna, and one brother, Dr. Perry Busbee of Cordele. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 20th at eleven o'clock at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. A private funeral service for Governor Busbee will be held at Parkway Baptist Church. This service is for family members and Parkway Baptist Church members. Governor Busbee will lie in state Monday, July 19th at the Capitol Rotunda from ten until eleven o'clock for State officials, dignitaries, and special guests and from eleven until one o'clock for the public.
