Family-Placed Death Notice

DICKERSON, Georgia December 17, 1929 - October 23, 2012 Georgia Elizabeth Lewis Dickerson passed away on October 23, 2012. She was born in Sparta, Georgia to the late Sadie Rhodes Lewis and John Chapman Lewis. Georgia attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. There she met her husband, George. She retired from the Department of Transportation in the early 1990's. She was a member of Northside United Methodist Church and joined the Northside Bible Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Leighton Dickerson, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Cherry Payne, son, John Dickerson, daughter, Gale Jamison (Bobby), son, George Dickerson, Jr. (Jamie), six grandchildren; Peyton Jamison (Megan), Sara Jamison, Charlie Jamison, John Lewis Payne (Holly), Leighton Winship (Dillon) and Travis Powell (Bonnie) and five great-grandchildren; Tripp and Mallory Jamison and Emma, Elle and Kellyn Powell. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 10:00am at Sparta Cemetery in Sparta, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Georgia to Northside United Methodist Church, 2799 Northside Drive Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30305 or to The University of Georgia Athletic Association, www.georgiadogs.com, 1-877-GA-DAWGS.
