Hugh MOORE Obituary
MOORE, Hugh July 5, 1919 - February 24, 2014 Colonel Hugh Campbell Moore, age 94, of Dunwoody passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. He was born on July 5, 1919 in White Plains, Georgia to the late Tom and Gertrude Moore. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1941, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Edwards, and joined the Army Air Corps. From there he entered the United States Air Force and proudly served for thirty years through World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. After retiring in 1970, a decision was made to move to Atlanta to live close to family and embark on another career. Hugh began working with Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as a business manager, retiring at the age of 88. Hugh Moore will always be loved and remembered for his engaging personality, his strength of character and generous spirit. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Carlisle Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Dorothy Edwards Moore; his son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Jr. and Sue Moore of Marietta; his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Teal of Marietta; and daughter, Gail Moore of Atlanta. In addition, he is survived by five grandchildren: Greg Teal, Meredith Moore, Kelly Teal Sullivan, Jennifer Moore Kesser and Jeff Teal. He is also survived by five great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life event will be held on March 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. James United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where Colonel Moore has been a faithful member for 44 years.
