Family-Placed Death Notice
BARNETTE, Jane Jane Elizabeth Spence Barnette, age 64 of Clarksville died December 2, 2012. Jane was a graduate of the University of Georgia in 1971, where she worked on the Red and Black, and finished with a degree in English and Journalism. Following graduation she became a teacher to regular and gifted students at many different schools in both Georgia and Texas and somehow found the time to get a paralegal degree from the University of Texas. She finally settled at Boles Jr. High in Arlington, TX where she was voted into "Who's Who of Teachers" twice by her students. Jane was also the head of the annual staff while there and produced many memorable yearbooks including her first, "Make Your Mark", which won awards. She was a loving mother and friend who opened her home up to all on the holidays and employed her amazing gourmet cooking skills to the delight of all. A great animal lover and a well known and loved "alien" sighter, she had an amazing loving and joyful personality. Jane is survived by her husband, Howell; daughter, Caroline; brother, Bill (Nita) Spence of Clarksville; sister, Carolyn Scott of Roswell; aunt, Mildred Williams of Roswell; niece, Chrischelle (Hunter) Ramsey of Holly Springs; nephew, Eddy (Jayne) Spence and daughter, Jessica (Joe) Piper all of Roswell; nephew, Brad Spence and daughter, Sara of Clarksville; nephew, William (Valerie) Holbrook and daughter, Ashley of Milton as well as many cousins and friends. She was loved by all who met her and will be truly and utterly missed. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 2:00PM at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarksville. The Barnette family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, Roswell, 770-645-1414. www.northsidechapel.com
