KAUFFMAN, John JOHN HARRY KAUFFMAN November 1, 1938 - November 3, 2013 John Harry Kauffman passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at his home in Atlanta with his family by his side after a long illness. He was born in Wooster, Ohio. After graduating from Ohio State University in 1960, he joined his father in business becoming President of Kauffman Tire, Inc. in 1969. In 1975, John moved the headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia. What started as Harry Kauffman's Texaco Station in 1936 by John's mother and father, Kauffman Tire has now become an organization consisting of 53 retail stores, 14 distribution centers, 4 retail/ commercial centers, one retreading facility, and an e-commerce company spread over seven states. He was proud of the fact that Kauffman Tire just celebrated their 75th year as a family owned business and that they are a third generation family company. John was passionate about giving back to the community, and was involved in many organizations over the years including the advisory committee of the President's Club at Ohio State University and the advisory committee of the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio State University. He was on the advisory board of WINSHIP Cancer Institute, as well as the advisory board of Action Ministries. John also served on the board of Junior Achievement of Atlanta. John was actively involved with his church, Peachtree Road Methodist in Atlanta, serving on various boards and committees in the church. John loved his family and enjoyed spending moments with them whenever he could. He is survived by his wife Brenda, son Mark Kauffman, daughter Wendy Money, daughter Megan LeBlanc, daughter Krista Slade, stepdaughter Brandi Benson, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Fath and Jane Laubach. Memorial services will be held Friday November 8, 2013 at 11am at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, 3180 Peachtree Road N.E. Atlanta, GA 30305.
