Kent was born in Media, Pennsylvania in 1943. He was the son of Jean and Earl Mast. He graduated in 1971 from Duke Law School; his honors included editor of the Duke Law Journal and member of the Order of Coif. His initial legal practice was in Atlanta with the law firm of Hansell and Post, followed by Kilpatrick Stockton until 1998. His area of expertise was anti-trust and trade regulations; he valued trust and integrity above all in his business relationships. After ten years with Kilpatrick Stockton, Kent became Corporate Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for Equifax until he retired in December 2012. During his career at Equifax Kent was active in the Board of the Consumer Data Industry Association where he served as President for two years. After retirement Kent remained actively involved on the Emory University Hospital Advisory Board and the Georgia Board of Appleseed Center for Law and Justice. Kent is survived by his wife, Deborah Freisem Mast; his children, Roger Martin Mast (Tyler) of Atlanta, Grier Mast Thomason (Craig) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jensen Mast Melton (Blake) of Columbus, Georgia, Jeffrey Mast of Granby, Massachusetts, Robert "Tug" Helmer of Atlanta, and Kriston "Sunny" Thompson (Randall) of Atlanta. He is also survived by his brother, Kurt Mast (Evelyn) of Atlanta; and 8 grandchildren, Charlotte, Claire, Reid, Spencer, Finley, Asher, Chase, and Catherine. In respect of Kent's passion for learning, in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Highlands School Library Fund, PO Box 940, Highlands, North Carolina, 28741, attention Carol Bowen. A celebration of life is being planned by the family with a date to be announced.
