Family-Placed Death Notice

Dr. Leedell Reuben died at his home in Dallas Georgia on Thursday, October 24th 2013. A funeral celebrating Leedell's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2nd 2013 at Zion Baptist Church, 165 Lemon Street, Marietta Georgia. His interment will be at 12pm at the Georgia National Cemetery, Cherokee, Georgia on Monday, November 4th 2013. Leedell and his twin sister Estelle was born the last of eight children in Camden, Alabama on October 5th 1941. He was preceded by his father Reverend W.F. Reuben, and his mother Mary Reuben. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Reuben and his two daughters, Adrienne White (Ronald White), and Annita Reuben. He also leaves his four granddaughters Amelia White, Abigail White, Annette White, and Alaina White. After spending his childhood in both Camden and Montgomery, Alabama, Leedell attended college at the University of Washington in Seattle. Here he got his undergraduate degree in microbiology and went on to be accepted into the UW medical school. Leedell became very active in the medical community by becoming a member of the California Medical Association and the California Perinatal Society. He served on many advisory boards including the Northern California Perinatal Advisory Council, The Peer Review Committee and the Ethical Committee. Leedell was awarded many military commendations which include the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service as Chief of Pediatrics. He was honorably discharged from military service, and then in 1990, Who's Who in California recognized him for Outstanding Professional Achievement, Superior Leadership and Exceptional Service. Dr. Reuben has practiced medicine for 36 years. While in the army, he served as a Neonatologist and provided numerous invaluable services and consultations to referring pediatricians throughout Europe, Africa, the mid-East and primary care physicians throughout Northern Germany. He served as Director of the NICU and assistant director of Pediatrics at San Joaquin General Hospital in the Central Valley. For the last 14 years of his career he served as a Neonatologist at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. During this time he served as Director of the NICU and assistant director of pediatrics, taught Pediatric Residents and medical students, and was a clinical associated professor at The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Upon Retirement he enrolled in the Andersonville Theological Seminary studying Theology and became a member of Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, GA.
