Family-Placed Death Notice

McCULLOUGH, Mabel Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Mabel Carolyn Davis McCullough will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 294 Peyton Rd. SW, Atlanta, GA 30311. Her body will lie instate from 10 AM til 10:45 AM. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:30 AM on the day of service. Interment will take place afterwards at Trinity Baptist Church in Danburg Wilkes County (Washington), GA. Mabel received her early childhood education in the rural Wilkes County school system where she was in honor student. She was a noted seamstress and studied fabrics and millinery at the Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, PA and matriculated at Fort Valley State University where she earned a BA in Home Economics. She was a member of various organizations: Alpha Kappa Mu Honorary Society, Beta Kappa Chi National Honorary Scientific Society, and a recipient of the Beta Kappa Chi Key. In 1963, she received a fellowship to do graduate studies at the University of Georgia. In 1967, she received a Masters degree in Education. Mabel was an educator for 30 years with the Atlanta Public System where she taught science at Booker T. Washington High School and later retired from Fredrick Douglas High School as an Assistant Principal. Mabel is a life member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority; serving 59 years as a sorer. She leaves to mourn, her husband of 57 years, William; son, Ralph; grandsons, Ralph Torin McCullough and Ryan Crew; granddaughter, Ryneishia Crew; sister, Mildred Murray (Ben); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. On Wednesday, Viewing and Wake Service will be from 5:30 - 7 PM at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel, 1199 Utoy Springs Rd. SW (404) 349-3000
