LESTER, Manta MANTA ADAMS LESTER A memorial service for Manta Adams Lester will be held Monday December 23, 2013 at 3pm at SouthCare Cremation & Funeral Society, 2260 Old Milton Pkwy., Alpharetta, GA. Manta passed away peacefully in Hospice Care at the age of 96. She was predeceased by husband Ivan Lauren Lester and their son Ivan Edwin Lester. Manta grew up in the small town of Vidalia, GA. Her parents participated in the business community, civic activities, and the First Baptist Church where they remained active. She was one of four children. Manta attended Mercer University in Macon, GA and graduated from the University of Georgia. In one of her classes, she met Ivan who was a chemistry lab assistant. Romance emerged and later with marriage, they were in unison adopting parents' standards, responsibilities, and social activities. They were happily and devotedly married for 62 years. Upon moving to Atlanta, Manta chose to follow her father's business interests in real estate. Manta joined Northside Realty Inc. becoming a top producing sales associate and broker. She worked side-by-side with the Isakson's for a period of 34 years. Her status, certifications, and awards were recognitions of distinction consistently outstanding to include the coveted Atlanta Board of Realtors Phoenix Award. Left to cherish Manta's legacy are devoted family and friends. Her niece, Sherry Adams, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Knott, were always available for comfort, friendship, health care, and quite an array of social activities. With family far and near, she was respected, visited and loved by all. Manta was a lover of history and biology. Her favorite interests were activities planned around luncheons, art, opera, reading, travel, and nature. She loved Atlanta with its trees and southern culture. She was a strong believer in fairness and social justice. Often fun times for her were the weekly bridge events and Tuesday games at the Cherokee Club.
