JOHNSON, Marianne Marianne Timmerman Johnson Marianne Timmerman Johnson, 67 of Atlanta passed away on Dec. 18th 2012 at Peachtree Christian Hospice. Marianne was born on February 15th, 1945 in Sioux City, IA and raised in Phoenix, AZ. She attended Xavier College Preparatory and Arizona State University, where she met the love of her life, Stephen Jonas Johnson. They were married on August 24th 1968 and were married 44 wonderful years. After living in San Diego for 5 years they moved to Atlanta, GA in 1979. Marianne began her career as a second grade teacher in Redondo, CA and exceled in the profession. After moving to Atlanta she discovered the joy of helping young and old with their vision problems as a vision therapist. As a vision therapist she co-authored a book on driving with low vision and was presented with the Jewel Young Award. An avid potter, Marianne was frequently found at her wheel in her home studio. She and Steve were actively involved parishioners with Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Marianne made friends wherever she went. In 1980 she was instrumental in starting and maintaining 2 prayer groups, which provided her with years of growth and friendship. Friends made throughout her life brought joy which she reflected to everyone around her. She was always there with open arms, a listening ear, a loving heart and could make the most ordinary event into something special. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her and made a profound difference in the lives of all of us. She will be forever remembered for her unconditional love, kindness, strength, and giving spirit. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Stephen J. Johnson; daughter, Sarah (Scott) Sloan; Son, Jonas (Laura) Johnson; cherished grandchildren: Rhiannon, Patrick, Lilah, Emma, & Jonas; brother, Joe Timmerman; Sister in Law, Dottie Johnson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Dec. 29th, at 10:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Following the funeral, the family will receive friends in the reception hall.
