LINSEY, Nathaniel L. BISHOP NATHANIEL L. LINSEY Retired Bishop Nathaniel L. Linsey, a native of Atlanta, was a committed servant leader, demonstrating excellence throughout his years of ministry. Bishop Linsey received numerous honors, awards and acknowledgements for selfless contributions to the betterment of man, society and the world. In 1978, Linsey was elected the 39th Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He presided over the Seventh (1978-1983), the Ninth (1983-1986), the Tenth (1986-1994), and the Second (1994-2002) Episcopal Districts, serving domestically and abroad in Jamaica and Africa. Linsey was installed as Senior Bishop of the denomination at the 1994 CME General Conference in Memphis, TN, at which time he assumed the duties of Chief Executive Officer of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church until he retired in 2002. Service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011, 12 noon, West Mitchell CME Church, 560 Martin Luther King. Jr. Dr., Atlanta. Instate 11 am. Rev. Frederick L. Braddock, Sr., Pastor. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 11:30 am on day of service. Service will be webcast live at www.c-m-e.org and www.waynelinsey.com. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mae C. Mills Linsey; children: Nathaniel, Jr., Ricarldo (Gloria), Julius Wayne, and Angela; grandchildren: Tondaylea, Richanda, Courtney, Christopher, Linsey, Alana and Cianna; brothers, Herbert L., Sr. (Hortense, deceased) and Wallace V., Sr. (Lillie Jean); sisters-in-law Ruby, Edith, Evelyn, Ethel, Velma, MaeBell Stewart and Vivian Ruth McCoy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and spiritual sons.
