Obituary Condolences


Family-Placed Death Notice

LIMBIRD, Richard Richard S. Limbird passed away peacefully at Embracing Arms Hospice, in Snellville, with his stepson Robert Sandner by his side. He was born in Norwalk, Ohio on December 10, 1927, the second son of James and Ethel Limbird. Ethel died at his birth, and he was reared by his maternal grandparents, the Scheid's of Milan, Ohio until he was three years old, when he went to live on his father's farm until he went to college. Mr. Limbird graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 with a degree in Business Administration majoring in accounting. He was on the audit staff of The General Electric Company, later managing the accounting sector of GE for the Southeastern Division in Atlanta. At retirement, he was a CPA in the firm of Gross Duke and Nelson, PC. Mr. Limbird loved music. When in the Army during WWII, he played the clarinet and saxophone in the Army Marching Band, and Army Dance Band. Pursuing this love, he played in The Ohio State Alumni Marching Band for many years, travelling with them to Japan, Ireland and Germany. At home in Atlanta, he played clarinet in the Callanwolde Concert Band. Mr. Limbird loved to travel, and he and his wife Joyce travelled extensively to South America, the Far East, Africa, and Europe. He is predeceased by his son Gregg Limbird, and his only brother James Limbird. He is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Limbird of Pasadena, CA, two half-sisters, Pat Limbird of Farmington Hills, MI, and Jo Huber of Oberlin, OH. He will always remain, with love, in the hearts of his wife Joyce, stepson Robert and his wife Julie, as well as his granddaughter Damyon Claar-Pressley, daughter-in-law Chance Claar-Pressley, and great grandson Sage and great granddaughter Cadence. Entombment will be at a later date at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs with the family in attendance. In lieu of flowers, if you choose, please make a donation to in Richard's honor. The family also invites you drop in to celebrate his life at a greeting, in his honor, to be held at the Holiday Inn located 4386 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd.
