Family-Placed Death Notice

FOLEY, Richard E. RICHARD E. FOLEY Richard E. Foley, 81, of Johns Creek Georgia died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 28, 2013. Richard (Dick) Foley was born on December 9, 1932 the son of John Gregory and Eunice (Keuper) Foley. He grew up in the Milwaukee Irish neighborhood of Merrill Park. Dick graduated from Marquette High School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. Following his service he attended Marquette University where he met and married the love of his life Mary Ann on June 21,1958. Dick began a long and distinguished career with the Internal Revenue Service in Milwaukee serving as Chief of Price Stabilization. After several promotions he rose to the level of Director of Appeals for the Southeast Region serving in Atlanta where he retired. Dick was preceded in death by his brother John (Greg) Foley. He will be missed by his wife, Mary Ann (Taddy), his seven children: Ann (Richard) Waris of Glenview, Illinois; James Todd of Misericordia Chicago, Illinois; COL. Michael (Cappy) of Johns Creek, Georgia; Rev. Matthew of St. James Parish Arlington Heights, Illinois; Patrick Johns Creek ,Georgia; Amy (Timothy) Sullivan of San Francisco, California; Gregory of Ridgewood, New Jersey; and his ten grandchildren: Mary Cate, John, Eileen, Clare, Drew, Catie, Chappell, Seara, Haley, and Colin. Dick was a devoted sports fan. He cheered for Marquette, the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech. He served as the president of the Allied War Veterans Association in Milwaukee, President of the Friends of Developmentally Disabled in Atlanta, and was honored as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Dick also supported Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home providing service for those with special needs, where his son James currently resides. In lieu of flowers, donations to Misericordia (James Todd Foley Family #3803), 6300 North Ridge Avenue, Chicago, Il 60660, would be appreciated. The funeral will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022 on January 2, 2014. The viewing will be at 1 PM with a funeral mass following at 2 PM.
