Richard WELTON Obituary
WELTON, Richard Richard Nelson Welton died on 4/30/2014. Born of missionary parents (the late Dr. Felix Burwell Welton and Frances Leila Gardner Welton) in China, 11/19/1932. Richard is survived by his wife Mary Ann Foster Welton, two children: Deirdre Welton Russell and Stephen Eric Welton as well as 5 grandchildren: Ivey, Timmy, Tori, Todd and Ginny, his 3 sisters: Patricia Welton Johnson, Janet Welton Gleeson and Rebecca Welton Sumlin and more than 54 very dear nieces & nephews. Richard earned his MA in Music from Florida State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, has lived in the Atlanta area for the past 37 years and was a charter member of Brookwood Presbyterian Church. Locally famous as Snellville's favorite "waver," Richard had many dear friends and a host of well-wishers. Worshiping God through vocal music was precious to Richard. We will therefore be hosting a Memorial service that focuses on musical arrangements by Richard himself as well as others he respected and loved. Please join us at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th at Brookwood Presbyterian Church, 1551 Oak Road, Snellville, GA 30078, 770-972-4827 (overflow parking at St. Matthews), for a celebration of Richard's life-long love of, and firm belief in, our Risen Lord. In lieu of flowers please feel free to make donations to your church choir, vocal musical group or chamber ensemble in Richard's name....or better yet - join a choir.
