Family-Placed Death Notice
BAIRD, Sharon Sharon (Shari) Johnson Baird passed away peacefully on June 23, 2013 at the age of 74 after suffering from Alzheimer's for several years. She was survived by her husband Nat, her sister Pam, children Elizabeth and Andrew and her special granddaughter, Taylor, and recent new grandson, Bobby. She was raised in Rock Island, Illinois. She died peacefully 45 minutes after singing "Jesus Loves Me". Shari was accomplished in everything she did -- graduating from the University of Iowa in business, being a legal secretary in Columbia, S.C. while her husband was in the service, and starting her own successful knitting supply business in Dayton, Ohio which she had to sell when she moved with her husband to Atlanta in 1975 when he opened the Hewitt Associate office. Among her many accomplishments, included founding a group in Dayton, Ohio to purchase land and build a neighborhood swimming center, helping in the development of an ocean front condominium in Sanibel, Fl. with friends from Dayton, Ohio and she was one of the founders of Stephen Ministry at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, where she was an active member for over 30 years. She requested cremation which has occurred. The service will be handled by Dr. Steve Huntley, her favorite minister. There will be a memorial service celebrating her life at Kellett Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta at 2:00 on Saturday, July 27 with a visitation with the family to follow.
