Susan BERRY Obituary
BERRY, Susan SUSAN HOPE BERRY Susan Hope Berry, 60, of Atlanta, GA, "World's Greatest Mom," loved a mental challenge. She enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, playing cards, and reading. Susan grew up as a military child, born at Fort Belvoir, VA to Col. Maurice and Grace Berry. She and her family lived all over the country as well as in Europe. She graduated from North Fulton High then went on to graduate from Smith College and Tulane University with a Master's of Social Work. For most of her professional career, Susan was a demographer for the Atlanta Regional Commission and then later a teacher at Cliff Valley School. Through the romantic lure of yacht racing on Lake Lanier and cruising in the Virgin Islands, she discovered her love of 29 years, Harvey Nation. Subsequently, she focused on her real passion; to educate her two girls and prepare them for life, and that she did. After battling cancer, Susan died Sunday in her home with family by her side. Susan's parents and her older brother, Lt. Allison Berry preceded her in death. Susan is survived by Harvey, Shelley, and Amy, as well as sisters Kathy Johnson and Barbara Poffenbarger. A celebration of her life will be held at the Intown Community Church, room 213, on Saturday, June 14th at 3pm. Donations may be made on her behalf to her favorite charity, the at 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346. Also, Susan loved yellow roses, in lieu of flowers, please plant one in an area special to you to remember her by.
