Family-Placed Death Notice

WATTS, Terry Harry Terrill "Terry" Watts, Jr., 59, of Sandy Springs, passed away Tuesday, April 16th, 2013. He was born on January 26, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry T. and Helen H. Watts. Terry received an undergraduate degree in business from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the New York University Stern School of Business. He relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in the late 1970's where he began his long career as a Certified Public Accountant. In 1992, Terry opened his own firm providing tax advisory and compliance services to individuals and small businesses. He was a member of many national and local professional associations. He also served for over 20 years as a Board Director of the Employers Mutual Casualty Company of Des Moines, Iowa. After the birth of his son, Terry renewed his passion for scouting. A life-long Eagle Scout, Terry took an active role in Troop 232 at the Northwest Presbyterian Church in Atlanta providing guidance as the Troop Committee Chairman for 8 years . In January 2013, he received the BSA Wood Badge Training Award. Terry is survived by his wife Libby and son Andrew both of Atlanta, his mother Helen H. Watts of Des Moines, IA, his brother Thomas R. Watts of Downer's Grove, IL, his sister Susan E. Watts of Prattville, AL, a niece and three nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northwest Presbyterian Church, designate for BSA Troop 232, 400 Northside Dr., Atlanta, GA 30327 or to Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, 805 Mt Vernon Hwy., NW Atlanta, GA 30327. A memorial service will be Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11 o'clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
