William Hungerpiller Obituary
HUNGERPILLER, William WILLIAM DAVID HUNGERPILLER Mr. William David Hungerpiller, age 92 of McDonough, GA passed away April 20, 2014. William (Bill) was born in Elloree, SC to the late John Henry and Fannie Rebecah Troutman Hungerpiller. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Henry Irby and Wayne Thompson Hungerpiller. He served in the USNR on active duty in WWII for nearly four years. After discharge, he attended Prairie Bible Institute in Canada for four years. After graduation he was an Administrator and Professor at the Carver Bible Institute for eight years, then six years of the same at the Immanuel Bible College. Following Immanuel, he became President of the Carver Bible Institute and College for 28 years. After retirement at age 70, he and his wife, Louise made nine short term mission trips to Kodiak, Alaska and one short term in Haiti. He served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Southern Accrediting Association of Bible Institutes and Colleges for many years and President for one term. He helped to establish the Carver Foreign Mission whose aim was to provide an open door for African-Americans to serve as foreign missionaries, especially in Africa. He was Director of this mission for about 20 years. He was a member of the Independent Fundamental Churches of America. His church membership was at Bible Baptist Church in Hampton, GA. His favorite sports were hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 60 years and daughter, Deborah Louise Ball and sister, Fannie Elizabeth Herniman Knowles. Friends may visit the family Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM from the Bible Baptist Church in Hampton with Pastor Loren Regier and Rev. Howard Dial officiating. Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 12:00 PM at Eastlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the Carver College, 3870 Cascade Road, Atlanta, GA 30331 in memory of Mr. Hungerpiller.
