Marilyn Ruth Cardwell Larson

Marilyn Ruth Cardwell Larson of Roseville passed away on December 9, 2012. Born in Riverside, Calif. on September 15, 1935 to Ruth Irene (Moore) Cardwell and James Robert (Bob) Cardwell, she spent her early childhood in Palm Springs. She later moved to Vancouver, Wash., and graduated from Vancouver High School in 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd G. Larson, Jr. who was serving in the U.S. Army in El Paso, Texas and subsequently in Limestone, Maine. Upon discharge, the couple moved to Seattle where Lloyd finished his degree at the University of Washington and began a career in the aerospace industry, which took them to San Jose, Calif. Marilyn spent 17 years in the banking industry, retiring from Union Bank of California in 1990. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Retiring to Auburn, Calif., Marilyn began researching family history which developed into a passion for genealogy. She was very active at the Placer County Genealogical Society where she served on the Board of Directors and various other roles. Later, after moving to Roseville, she served as President and Treasurer of the Roseville Genealogical Society, and was an active member of the DAR Gold Trail chapter in Roseville, where she held roles such as treasurer, historian, and committee member. Marilyn and Lloyd loved cruise travel and visited many countries around the world in their retirement, and were married 51 years until his death in 2005.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents; her step-father, Charles Becker; and her husband Lloyd. She will be deeply missed by her children: Cindy (Neil) Farris of San Jose, Kim Cowan of Roseville, and Jacinda (Craig) Smith of Winter Haven, Fla.; her sister, Dr. Evelyn Becker of Grants, New Mexico; grandchildren: Emily Farris of San Francisco, Shannon (Daniel) Solis, Travis Farris and Jessica Cowan of San Jose, Calif.; as well as two great-grandchildren, Daniel Solis, Jr. and Michael Solis. She will also be missed by a multitude of friends.
She was laid to rest on December 13, 2012 at the Roseville Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Maidu Community Center, 1550 Maidu Drive, Roseville, Calif., on February 9, 2013 at 2 p.m.
