AIKEN, S.C. - Andy Johnson, age 67, died on January 25th, 2014, surrounded by family after a brave battle with prostate cancer. It was Andy's request that he be cremated. A Celebration of his life will be held at his home at a later date. Andy graduated from Central High School, Memphis, TN, in 1964 where he was president of the Math Club. He won a scholarship to attend Southwestern at Memphis University (now Rhodes College), where he was in Kappa Sigma and graduated with a BA in Mathematics in 1968. Andy enlisted in in the U.S. Air Force where he was assigned to attend Officer Training School at Lackland AFB. He graduated from OTS as a Second Lieutenant with the highest scores in his class of 700. The Air Force then sent him to the University of Michigan where he graduated with his Masters in Science with a major in Meteorology in 1972. In 1977, Andy left the Air Force as a Captain with an honorable discharge. He spent his next 30 years at Savannah River Site and retired as Manager of the Information Delivery System organization. Andy volunteered at the Golden Harvest Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and the Aiken Animal Shelter Andy was preceded in death by his parents Francis L. Johnson and Marjory M. Johnson; his first wife, Mary Anderson Johnson. Survivors include his wife of seventeen years, Carlene Johnson; two daughters, Andrea (Robert) Cross, Carteret, NC and Mary Johnson, Charlotte, NC; a son, Timothy Johnson, Saco, ME, his step children that he helped raise, Justin (Erin) Moser, Mary Esther, FL and Lauren Moser, Grovetown, GA; five grandchildren, Andrew Vowell, Matthew Vowell, Hannah Cross, Robert Cross, Jr., and Madeline Banas; a brother, Nicholas (Beth) Johnson Houston, TX; his father, William H. Long, Baton Rouge, LA. Memorials may be made to Golden Harvest Food Bank, 13 Enterprise Avenue, Aiken, SC 29803; Salvation Army, P. O.
