AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Charles Kirkendohl, 81, husband of Iona Wooten Kirkendohl, entered into rest Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Jerry Wilson officiating. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Kirkendohl, Steve Dent, Iain Bluett, Bobby Graham, Bill Macky and Gary Thigpen. Mr. Kirkendohl was born in Stapleton, GA to the late Sidney and Ollie Newsome Kirkendohl. He was a former member of Broad Street Baptist Church and a member of Lake Park Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran and had retired from Georgia Iron Works. Other survivors include his daughters, Leona Thigpen and her husband Gary and Linda Macky and her husband Bill; brothers Sam Kirkendohl, Billy Kirkendohl and Sidney Kirkendohl; sister, Dorothy Martin; grandchild, Melinda Bluett and her husband Iain; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Kylie Bluett. The family would like to thank Walter, Brenda and Carol of University Hospice. Fernando, John and Lee of Medical Comfort Systems and Dr. Cooper at the VA.
