AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Cleveland Bill Bing, 91, departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Augusta, GA. He was the 15th of 17 children of Isaiah and Georgia Golphin Bing. Mr. Bing was a native of Barnwell, SC and resided in New York City as an adult. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1946. Mr. Bing married the late Mrs. Naomi Ringgold Bing of Chestertown, MD in 1961, who preceded him in death after 30 years of marriage. He spent his twilight years in Augusta after his retirement as a Master Carpenter. Mr. Bing leaves to mourn his passing his son Dr. Darryl Bing of Wake Forest, NC and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery (803-699-2246) in Columbia, SC on January 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Mr. Bing believed strongly in service to others and was actively involved with the Prince Hall Masons and volunteered with the Boys and Girls Clubs in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boys and Girls Clubs of the CSRA, 206 Milledge Road Augusta, GA 30904.
