EVANS, Ga. - Graveside Services for Mr. Edwin B. Smith, 81, of Brandon Wilde, Evans, Georgia, who entered into rest December 18, 2013, will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Pineview Memorial Park. Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Mr. Smith was a native of Black Mountain , North Carolina, a former resident of Kinston, North Carolina and Summerville, South Carolina. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Summerville, where he was actively involved in mission work, and attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Evans. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired as a Senior Research Associated from E.I. DuPont with over 30 years of service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Mrs. Sarah Jackson Smith. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Andrea Usry, North Augusta and Roslyn and Jody Burttram, Windermere, Florida; three grandchildren, Graham Fletcher, Morgan Fletcher and Jackson Burttram; a sister, Carolyn Smith Brown, Black Moutain, North Carolina. The family will receive friends at the Graveside following the service. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 North Belair Road, Evans, Georgia 30809. The family expresses appreciation to Mr. Smith's caregivers, Nancy White, Gert Harris, Eva Gilyard, Mattie Elam and Chondra Houston and Odyssey Hospice of Augusta for their loving care.
