EVANS, Ga. - Funeral Services for Mr. Gordon Taylor Hey, 95, formerly of North Augusta, who entered into rest December 10, 2012, will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park with Veterans Honors. Mr. Hey was born on June 17, 1917 in the District of Birkenhead, England. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he received a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cloves. On August 11, 2010 he was honored by the Veterans History Project with two additional medals. Mr. Hey worked for 26 years as an auditor for the U.S. Department of Transportation. He was an avid reader who loved animals, especially his two dogs. Mr. Hey brought joy to all those around him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Ruby E. Hey, his parents, Ernest and Eva Hey and a brother, Leslie Hey. Survivors include a step-son, Robert L. Fredricks, New Market, MD; three grandchildren, Cheri Walther, John Fredricks and Craig Fredricks; five great-grandchildren; a niece Sheila Hey Carr, Stuart, FL; three great-nephews. Additional survivors include his extended family, Bill and Tammy Andrews, Scottie Lambert, Courtney Andrews, Caleb Andrews, The Godbee Family and The Cooley Family. Pallbearers will be Frank Godbee, Scott Lambert, Caleb Andrews, Bob Cooley, Bert Lopez and Cail Godbee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Thursday evening from 6 until 8.
