NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Memorial Services for Mr. Henry Gurley, 90, who entered into rest February 5, 2013, will be conducted Friday evening at 6 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Chaplain John Bower officiating. Mr. Gurley, a native of Forest City, North Carolina, and a former resident of Charleston, made North Augusta his home for the past 52 years. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran who served during World War II and the Korean Conflict and a graduate of University of North Carolina. Mr. Gurley was the founder and operator of Gurley's Supermarkets throughout the CSRA. Mr. Gurley was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances D. Gurley and his second wife, Genevieve H. Gurley. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Clara Gurley, Harlem, Raymond and Shannon Gurley, Augusta, Steve and Sue Gurley, North Augusta, Doug and Angie Gurley, Beech Island and Greg and Michelle Gurley, Thomson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Bill Benton, Trenton, Brenda and Bruce Haislip, Lincolnton; 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and a brother, Russell Gurley, Tampa, FLA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
