AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James A. Stevens (Ret. SFC), 82, of Augusta, GA passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Born in Glenwood, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas and Evelyn Marie Jarvis Stevens. James retired from the US Army after 21 years of service. While in the Army he served in the Vietnam War and Korean War. He was a member of Glenn Hills Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and watching western movies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Stevens, son, Robert C. Folger, sister, Avis Carter, and grandson, Brian Todd, Jr. He is survived by his children, Heather N. (Brian) Todd, Kevin N. (Tabitha) Folger, sisters, Vivian Hardesty, Betty Jane Mount, brothers, Billy J. (Sandy) Stevens, Donald F. (Joy) Stevens, Thomas (Judy) Stevens, brother in law, Randolph Avera, sister in law, Patricia Glover grandchildren, Robbie Folger, Shelby Folger, Tiffany Todd, Tyler Folger, Preston Folger, Jacob Folger, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his four legged friends, Skipper and Cinderella. The family would like to thank Ed Stark for his special friendship. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 12 until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Augusta Wounded Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Road, Suite 5-333, Martinez, GA 30907-0410.
