MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Mr. Johnie Hue Chambers, age 75, of Milledgeville died Saturday, August 17, 2013 in the Serenity Hospice Care in Dublin after an extended illness. He was a native of Uvalda & spent most of his life in Hazlehurst before moving to Milledgeville in 2007. He served in the U.S. Army as a property book officer and retired after 24 years of service. While in active duty, he served tours in France, two in Germany, and another in Korea. He was a Vietnam veteran as well and was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie Morris; his parents, Jessie and Ella Chambers; his brothers, Barney, R.H., and William; and his sister, Algie. Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Chambers; 3 sons, Willie Hue Chambers of Uvalda, Robert Lewis Chambers of Reidsville, & Earl Scott Chambers & wife Wol Yong of Augusta; 1 step-son, Paul Chambers of Milledgeville; 2 daughters, Madeline C. Hargrove & husband Charles Michael of Hazlehurst & Maxine Chambers Little of Hazlehurst; 1 brother, Jessie Mack Chambers & wife Gail of Ailey; 3 sisters, Lille Mae Cauley of Okeechobee, FL, Geneva Cauley of Clewiston, FL, & Ruby C. Watson & husband Walter of Havana, FL; 10 grandchildren, Teresa Lynn Lewis, Jessie Earl Chambers, John William Chambers, Lisa Melinda Martin, Aubrey Eugene Clark Jr., Cody Wesley Clark, Justin Ryan Little, Paul Chambers, Marissa Chambers, & Bobby Ray Chambers Jr.; & 5 great grandchildren, Andrew Clinton Lewis, McKenzie Diane Yong Chambers, Scott Yohan Chambers, Bobby Ray Chambers III, & Ashley Pearl Chambers. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 20th at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Chad Watkins officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Serenity Hospice House, 504 Parker Dairy Road, Dublin, GA 31021. Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
