APPLING, Ga. - Mr. Linzy Rolland was born September 8, 1941 in Appling, Georgia to the late Robert Rolland and Mary D. Rickerson. At an early age, he was baptized at The Solid Rock Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia. He displayed his love for the Lord and his church through his service as a dedicated Deacon for 41 years. He married the love of his life, Emma Rolland and they enjoyed 52 years of a union blessed by God. He was an exemplary employee at Mulherin Lumber Company for over 40 years. He also served as a Volunteer Fireman for the North Columbia Fire and Rescue of Columbia County for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Clarence Rolland. He leaves to cherish his legacy, a faithful and dedicated wife, Emma Rolland, two loving daughters, Michelle (Daryl) Grayden of Evans, Georgia, Ivy (Gerald) Elam of Grovetown, Georgia, one loving God Daughter, Cathy (Don) Stallings of Augusta, Georgia and one special daughter-in-law, Lavelle Rolland of Grovetown, Georgia, four adoring grandchildren, Justin Rolland, Sydney Grayden, Gerald Elam, Jr. and Ashton Rolland. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred McGruder. He is survived by six sisters, Willie Mae Leverett, Appling, Ga., Elouise Rolland, Atlanta, Ga., Eva Jean Gunter, Augusta, Ga., Marguerite Tankersley, Augusta, Ga., Bertha Mae Rickerson, Atlanta, Ga., Julia Mae Rolland, Grovetown, Ga. and one brother, Claude Rickerson, Atlanta, Ga., four brothers-in-law, John (Sulbia) Luke, James (Martha) Luke both of Appling, Ga., Pierce Luke Jr. of Hartford, Connecticut, and Frank (Frances) Dunn of Grovetown, Ga., three sisters-in-law, Louise Jackson, Harlem, Ga. Mary Alice (Cass) Hood, Chicago, Illinois and Willette (Augustus) Dunn, Grovetown, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A celebration for a life well lived will be 3:00pm, Friday, January 10, 2014, The Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2944 Scotts Ferry Road, Appling, Ga, with Pastor Larry B. Sims Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 9, 2014, from 6 to 8:00pm at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858
