AUGUSTA, Ga. - Rev. Rudolph C. Mayes rested from labor to reward on Saturday, August 24, 2013. He was a graduate of Augusta College and completed post graduate studies in Social Psychology at the University of Georgia in Athens. He accepted the position of Headstart Director and remained there until retirement in 1998. Rev. Mayes served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He was the Pastor of Saron Baptist Church of Wagener, South Carolina for fourteen years. Rev. Mayes leaves to cherish fond loving memories with his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Ellease Mayes; daughter, Marsha (Walter) Bennett; grandchildren; Brittany Renee', Druscilla, Azalee, and Floyd; great-grandson, Kevin Deon; sisters; Alice (Phillip) Thompson and Fannie Mayes; god-children, Willie Mae Davis and Antwaine Hinton and a host of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Elim Baptist Church, 2359 MT. Auburn Street, Augusta, with Pastor C.D. Roberts, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Rev. Mayes may be viewed today (Friday) from 2 to 6:00pm at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858
