HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Vester Eugene Haire was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 4, 2013. He was originally from Orlando, Florida but made his home in Hephzibah in 1984. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Augusta. Vester retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his four sons, Harry Thomas of Washington, Richard Eugene of Florida, Vester Larry of Ohio, and Tony Wayne of New Mexico; five daughters, Sharon Mae of Washington, Dianne Leila of South Carolina, Terry Rose of South Carolina, Debra Darlene of South Carolina, and Patricia Lea of North Augusta; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held at the Hephzibah Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am on Friday, February 8. Interment will follow at Hephzibah-Vance Cemetery. His funeral will be with full military honors, including military pallbearers. Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (1-800-805-5856), in lieu of flowers being sent.
