SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - Wesley David Jones, age 91, of Sandy Springs, passed away on July 2, 2013. A native of Augusta, GA, he is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Jones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Frances Guy Jones, and brothers, Ralph Jones and James Jones of Augusta, GA. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Leslie Anderson (Lealon) of Carrollton, GA; Kathy Williams (John) of Tampa, FL; son, Rev. Kenneth Jones (Janet) of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Mark Anderson (Mandy), Matt Anderson (Jamie), David Williams (Anne), Joe Williams (fiance Marie), Ben Jones, Katie Buchholtz (Mark); great grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan and Riley Anderson; Miles Anderson; Charlie and Jack Wesley Williams; soon to be born Ella Rose Jones; and brother, C. Hugh Jones of Augusta, as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving sweetheart, Montez Shackelford, and his faithful caregiver, Jabi Jennings. Residing in Atlanta since 1958, Wes was the epitome of a gracious Southern gentleman. Kind and soft-spoken, he was always there for his family and many friends with a generous spirit, steadfast love and good financial advice. He served his Lord as a 55 year church and United Fidelity Sunday School member and usher at St. James United Methodist Church. In 2006, he sold his family home and became an active member of the Mount Vernon Towers and Benson Center communities. He loved to play bridge and bingo and take sweets to share wherever he went. Wes served his country faithfully as an Army officer during the Korean War and for many years in the Army Reserves, retiring as a decorated Army Ordnance Major. A graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. degree in finance, he was a retired Executive Vice President of SunTrust Banks, Inc., a business counselor with SCORE, and past president of the Buckhead Kiwanis Club and the Buckhead Fifty Club. Please join us to celebrate his life on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 2 o clock at St. James United Me thodist Church with Dr. John Simmons and Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions made to St. James United Methodist Church, 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd., Atlanta, GA 30342.
